David Brown Pumps Division was set up in the early 1960's as a Bingham licensee to satisfy the needs of the European refinery industry; there was an accelerated growth in the 1970's as a result of the development of the North Sea oilfields. The business has achieved strong international expansion in Africa, the Middle East and Asia Pacific following the separation from Sulzer-Bingham in 1988. All of the new pump manufacturing was done in the UK. A steady growth in aftermarket parts and service developed with expanding operation in the UK. The business excels in heavy duty single stage and multi-stage centrifugal pumps to API-610 requirements. David Brown also excelled in the design and manufacture of cryogenic pumps for handling liquefied gas.
David Brown Pumps has traditionally been committed to the research and development being at the forefront of the advancement of double bolting technology for multi-stage pumps, development of high temperature between bearing pumps on abrasive services and a leader in the development of vertical multi-stage cryogenic pumps for LNG terminals.
